Distant Frenz, operated by DISTANTFRENZ LLC, is an 18+ safe-for-work social platform for making new friends. It is not a dating, escort, companionship-for-hire or adult-content service. This page explains how we keep the platform safe, what happens when something is reported, how we enforce our rules, and how to raise a complaint. It works alongside our Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, Anti-Trafficking & Non-Solicitation Policy, Consent & Content Policy, Privacy Policy and Refund Policy.
Where our rules apply
Our Terms and Acceptable Use Policy apply to everything you do through Distant Frenz: profiles, posts, Stories, comments, Real Talk answers and comments, guestbook notes, private messages, tips and other credit-supported interactions, and voice and video calls. A conversation being private does not create an exception. Nudity, sexual content, sexual services, escorting, solicitation, trafficking, harassment, fraud and every other prohibited activity are prohibited in private messages and calls exactly as they are in public.
The moderation process at a glance
- Prevention — age confirmation, sign-up checks, published rules and pre-publication image screening.
- Detection and reporting — held images go to our review queue, and anyone using the app can report accounts and content.
- Review — an admin reviews the report, the content and the account.
- Protective action — where a report is serious, a reviewer may restrict or suspend an account while the matter is looked into.
- Investigation — the reviewer looks at the available evidence and the account's history.
- Takedown and enforcement — confirmed violations lead to content removal and account action based on severity.
- Appeal and escalation — users can appeal enforcement decisions, and serious matters are escalated as described below.
These steps do not always happen in this order. Serious violations can justify immediate, stronger action.
Pre-publication image screening
Photos uploaded for posts, Stories, profile pictures and profile backgrounds are screened automatically before anyone else can see them. Images the check considers clean are published. Images that are flagged, or that the check is unsure about, are held privately for review by our team. While held, only the uploader (marked "Under Review") and our admins can see them. If the screening check fails or is unavailable, the upload is held rather than published. Automatic screening does not permanently reject anything on its own. An admin makes the final decision to approve or reject held images.
Automated screening is not perfect. It can miss content that breaks our rules, and it does not review text, private messages or calls.
If prohibited content gets through
If you see something that breaks our rules, report it. Admins can remove the content, restrict or suspend the account, or ban it, depending on what they find.
How to report
The Report option is available on:
- profiles (from the profile menu);
- posts, in the feed and in the post viewer;
- Stories (Report button at the top of the story);
- comments on posts;
- Real Talk answers and Real Talk comments;
- private chats (report the other person from the chat menu);
- voice and video calls (Report button on the call screen).
You choose a reason and can add details. The report goes to our admin moderation queue, together with what is needed to investigate it: the reported account, the specific content or call where applicable, and a copy of any text at the moment you reported it. You can also block other users from their profile or chat.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number first.
What happens after a report
- Received — the report is logged in our moderation queue.
- Assessed — an admin reviews the reported content, the account and, where relevant, its recent activity. Reviewers consider how serious each report is. Reports involving minors, sexual exploitation, trafficking, threats or self-harm are treated as the most serious. The queue does not sort reports automatically by seriousness.
- Decided — the admin closes the report if no violation is found, or takes action. Decisions and actions are recorded in our internal moderation log.
A report on its own never automatically suspends, restricts or bans anyone. Every report creates a case for a person to review, so a false or malicious report cannot take someone's account offline by itself.
Enforcement
What we do depends on how serious the violation is, the account's history, the safety risk, and the evidence available. Actions available to our admins include:
- No violation found — the report is closed.
- Lower-level violation — a warning and/or removal of the content.
- Repeated or more serious violation — a time-limited restriction on posting or messaging, or a temporary suspension.
- Serious safety allegation — a temporary protective restriction or suspension while the matter is reviewed, where appropriate.
- Confirmed severe or repeated violations — permanent account termination (ban).
- Serious illegal or safety matters — escalation to the appropriate authorities, as described below.
These are not always applied step by step. Serious violations can lead straight to suspension or a permanent ban. Remaining credits after a termination are handled under our Refund Policy.
Appeals
If we warn you, remove your content, restrict your posting or messaging, suspend your account or ban it, you can appeal from the Appeals page in your account settings. An admin reviews each appeal and records the outcome. If you cannot access the app, email support@distantfrenz.com.
Confidentiality of reports
Reports are handled confidentially. We do not tell the reported person who reported them, except where we are required to by law or where it is necessary for safety. Reports are visible only to our admin team.
False or abusive reports
Knowingly false, malicious or abusive reports — for example, reporting someone repeatedly to harass them — break our rules and may themselves lead to enforcement. Report submissions are also rate-limited.
Private messages
Our rules apply to private messages just as they do to public content. We do not routinely read or proactively monitor private conversations. Instead:
- you can report the other person from the chat at any time;
- admins can review a reported account and reported content, as part of investigating the report;
- we act based on how serious the violation is and what we find.
Voice & video safety
Our Acceptable Use and community standards apply during voice and video calls. Calls are private. Distant Frenz does not record, listen to, transcribe or proactively monitor voice or video calls.
- Either person can end a call at any time with the hang-up button.
- If you believe the other person broke our rules during a call, use the Report button on the call screen. You can also report them later from the chat or their profile. Choose a reason and describe what happened.
- The report goes to our admin moderation queue with a reference to the call.
- Depending on how serious the allegation is, an admin may restrict or suspend the account while the matter is reviewed.
- Confirmed violations may lead to a warning, restrictions, suspension or permanent termination, depending on severity and history.
Because calls are not recorded, our review relies on the report, the account's history and other activity on the platform.
Serious safety and legal matters
Where our review identifies credible suspected child sexual exploitation, trafficking or another serious threat to someone's safety, we report it to the appropriate authorities — including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) for suspected child sexual exploitation — as the law requires and where appropriate, and we cooperate with valid legal process. These decisions are made by a person; we do not report to authorities automatically. See our Anti-Trafficking Policy for details, including how we keep records.
Complaints, disputes and requests
Use the right channel so your issue reaches the right people:
- Safety or content reports — use the in-app Report option (see above).
- General customer complaints — email support@distantfrenz.com.
- Billing complaints and disputes — email billing@distantfrenz.com.
- Privacy requests (access, correction, deletion) — email privacy@distantfrenz.com.
How we handle a complaint
- We receive your email and sort it by type (support, billing, safety or privacy).
- We review the relevant account, transaction or content records.
- We investigate further where needed, and may ask you for more information.
- We take whatever action is appropriate.
- We reply to you by email with the outcome.
We aim to reply to emails within 2 business days. Some issues may take longer to resolve.
Billing disputes
To report an unauthorized charge, a duplicate charge, a billing error or another billing problem, email billing@distantfrenz.com as soon as you notice it. Please include the email address on your account, the date and amount of the charge, and any transaction or receipt reference. We review our purchase, membership and credit records for your account and the related payment-processor transaction, then reply by email with the outcome. Where our Refund Policy applies — for example duplicate charges, billing errors, unauthorized or fraudulent transactions, technical failures, or services not properly delivered — we may issue a refund, reversal or account adjustment. Purchases are otherwise generally final. We do not set a fixed deadline for reporting a billing problem, but please contact us promptly so we can investigate.
What we do not claim
We do not proactively monitor private messages or calls, we do not record calls, and we do not run background checks on users. Automated image screening can make mistakes. Our safety controls are the ones described on this page: published rules, age confirmation, pre-publication image screening with human review of held images, in-app reporting, human review of reports, enforcement, appeals and escalation.
